I am half way through building my new Baja SS and was wondering what is the best 2-stroke oil to use?

I had my eye on either Castrol TTS, Klotz Super Techniplate or Klotz R/C Modelube Techniplate.

Which should I go for?

Cheers,

Any top brand oil will do the job.

Not that cheap stuff you get from B&Q

Most will recommend fully synthetic, I'm currently using Castrol TTS Power 1 which is readily available from Halfords and bike stores.

Thanks Topper.

Does anyone have any experience with Klotz? I've read that it smells quite nice!!!!!! (I know that is not important though!!!)

good old fashioned Castrol R hehe, i actualy use Rock oil which is a Caster oil, you can get these on ebay cheeap and they come as a one shot which you mix with 5 litres of oil for 50 to 1 or half for 25 to one, the leaner the mix, faster the car the faster you need to re ring the engine, oh and rock oil smell the same a Castrol as i beleave this is also Caster oil, if you look at a oil chart for what the best oil is though Rock oil use better Chemicals.. hope this helps

makes you hungry because it smells like BBQ hehehehe

Once i have finished all of my 2-stroke rock oil i have i think i will get some carlube 2-stroke oil.

rock oil seems to work very very well as an oil tbh, might stick with it but their just my thoughts.

This is the oil i have been running for the last year and a bit:

The red carlube is dreadful... the orange fully synthetic is fantastic stuff... and API-TC+ rated for under 9 a bottle which is superb value..

Im running Motorex Power Synthetic.

DO NOT get red Carlube I wont even use that in my strimmer at work. its like nats p*ss.
+1 on the above comment. Can't go wrong with Putoline. I go for the MX7 though as think its semi synthetic or fully. Either way its better. I get mine for 11 a litre.

As they say Oil is cheaper than metal!:thumb:

I use King Cobra Complex Competion which is made by Rock Oil. Designed to not break down at the high rpm's our engines reach. Mix mine at 33:1 :thumb:

surely 33:1 is a tad lean? regardless of the oil being 'special'

i have used the bardahl oil, also used castrol power tts1 as well and for the money i will use the castrol in future as i have not noticed any improvement in performance with the bardahl.
i can not say if the engine wear is any better or worse though,
in my oppinion i think if you use any high quality oil you should be ok,
oh yeah i have used the rock oil gold oil as well and power wise i think it was a little bit down on the other 2 but at around half the price its worth buying as its not that much worse power wise and it smells the best
i mix my fuel at 25-1 ratio, by the way bardahl oil is the same colour as petrol and quite thick and the bottle has a large cap hole not a small one like castrol bottles so can make mixing a bit awkward with a mixing bottle if you are not to carefull
