    Default Fuel tank vent mod

Fuel tanks can get vacuum locked If the tiny hole in the filler cap gets blocked, this can lead to fuel starvation and running problems.

Here's a cheap mod to solve this.

I'm using a bike tank breather (nice anodised colours too!)
    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FUEL-TANK-BREA...item5884e8574a

And a model boat water outlet fitting for the tank connection (item GA1D)
    http://www.prestwich.ndirect.co.uk/hdwraccs.htm

Soon as the parts arrive I'll post pictures of the fitting.

Here are the bike tank breathers and model boat water outlets.

First drill an 8mm hole in the tank and pass a piece of wire though to the filler

Next thread the model boat outlet on to the wire and tie a knot

Now pull the wire though the drilled hole till the outlet pops up and hand tighten the nut

Pull the wire back out the filler hole

Tighten the nut with pliers and spanner

Push on the one way breather valve

All done in about 10 minutes and no more vacuum locked tanks that make you think you have carb tuning issues!

    Great mod! Thanks for sharing

I guess you could seal your filler cap then and thus avoid your tank leaking fuel when it's upside down? Could you?

All good, took the badger out today and no leaks (cap is sealed now) when wrong side up.
