Default GRP tyres - now much cheaper

    Hiya,

I use GRP tyres/wheels for my road car and found them to be very good.

I noticed that they also do Baja Tyres pre-glued onto white wheels, which were 50Euro for a rear set and 40Euro for a front set, but I thought it would be an expensive punt to try them out.

Well, now things have changed and the company have taken a very bold step to help reduce the costs for racers.

Essentially they no longer sell through shops, only direct. And they have cut the costs of the tyres by 40% as a result

This means that a set of 4 Baja wheels & tyres can be had for just 63 (+ VAT) delivered from Italy!!!

There is a thread on here discussing them and they seem OK - a very good thick tyre. And if the glueing on the road tyres is anything to go by they won't be coming off easily!

    The website is www.grpgandini.it

I've just ordered a set of Bulldog Mediums, along with some more XtraSoft road tyres.

And I think what they have regards selling direct is a very praiseworthy move

75 for a set of fronts delivered, I haven't taken the plunge, I wonder if they would take the weight of the Losi?

    I forgot to add vat,

But they are sold In pairs, so it's €36.50 for a rear set and €30.50 for a front set. And €19 shipping.

So about 75 for a set of 4 tyres on wheels.

    Thats cheap, I think anyway.

Would they hold up to the Losi torture? I've got gears to overcome the difference in tyre size

No idea, although I would have thought the rear tyres on a Baja were a more demanding application than the 4wd Losi, where the fun , sorry - stress, is reduced across all 4 wheels.

From previous posts they seem very tough.

The unknowns for me is how they grip compared to Mini Mx's. and if the glue will holds - I am fed up of tyres popping out the inner beads and so if these work I'll be way happy.

I'm thinking more of the weight of the Losi, quite heavy compared to a badger.
I too am fed up and ****ed off with pulling the inner beads off, especially at MMR.

Are you thinking whether the foams will be too soft, or whether the wheel will take the stress of the weight?

Its an unknown to me, but I am quite confident they will work with the Baja given the quality of their on-road wheel for my 1/5 tourer.

I'll post up some pics and comments when they come, due to arrive 13th Nov.

Did you get the buldog ones, post up what you think.
I keep losing KK out of my MX's and are not holding them in anymore, only been in and out twice has well. Plus my beedlocks are abit naff now so will need a full set of rears very soon.
These are a good bit cheaper then new tyres, foams, and beeds hope they hold up to my bashing on a bit though.
    Cheers for the link Ive

Yeah. Virtually half price compared to a full set of normal Baja tyres, wheels etc

It will really help with the running cost of my on-road car, where tyres aren't expected to last much more than a day or twos use

In fact, some top end racers use a new set for each race! They are sponsored and can afford it, I can't!

    Top marks to GRP

Maybe a daft question but when you order is says quantity 1, is this 1 pair or 1 wheel.

All their tyres are sold in pairs, so order 1 for 1 pair.

For the cost worth a punt ordered a set a few days ago, got to agree with Ive if they are as good as the road tyres should stand the baja.

Just wondering how the wheels hold up to mega stress, I've emailed them.
