    Default New LSOR Track.

    Hello,

Work began on a newLSOR track today at Clanfield RC , Hampshire.

There's been an established 1/8 track there for years. As large scale has become more popular the track was opened up for the cars but became obvious it was inadequate ( it was even killing Losis) and the track itself was taking a hammering.

Armed with 4 mowers, 2 strimmers and two rakes a dozen RAW members achieved alot today. The layout is basic at the moment but it's a great start for LSOR racing in Hampshire.

New 1/5 track & the already established 1/8 track

Today we collected the old track rope from Thunderfields. Comming along nicely. We were lucky enough to be given the 'Ark royals' old mooring ropes. Makes a perfect track edge/marker

    Thunderfields nowadays

    Track is 212 metres long

    Video seeing what layouts like.

32 started to overheat. dominator pipe collects a lot of grass. 20/54 gears still on stock settings. clutch was roasting hot too

    Default Footage of 2wd final

Won by 4 laps in the end. The 32 is in a class of it's own.

It's a good venue only 10 mins from where i live. Some luck at last. Never borthered going until it started letting large scale race. This is a temporary track while the main track ( Other side of rostrum) Is repaired/altered for 1/5 scale.
No tracks in your neck of the woods? If not, be a good reason to visit Hants again.

nothing mate, I'm looking for some land and having chats with my neighbour, who is a farmer. It would be a good reason to go back but it's along way from north Wales

Funny, as I thought there'd be plenty of room there. Landowners into the hobby is the best it gets. Sympathetic farmers who can make a few bob is next.Usually the one's which already have moto cross tracks. Google earth shows 5 Moto cross tracks all within 15 miles of my location. Good luck finding a decent venue mate, nothing like a bit of racing.

Good time of year to look for a potential venue to make sure the area never floods etc and you have a better chance the more people are intrested. I guess 'woolly maggots' are everywhere. 'NIMBYs' have closed a few of our tracks in the past.
This was the first track built by 5 people few years ago which was closed.

Thanks mate, took a few months to build. The surface at RAW raceway was sandy clay and we used to hire a roller to compact it. ( used to flood in the top right hand corner before the banked curb section). Clanfield will be coverd in Astro which is the best for minimal maintenance.
Getting Astro turf is relatively easy; Find a company which specialise in Astro turfing. Tell them how much your after and where you want it delivered to. The next time they have a job 'say, within 50miles of your location' they call and tell you it's on it's way.
It saves them a fortune taking it off their hands. Of course the delivery driver gets a drink. 100ish.

Default Clanfield RC - Main Track

Found some video of 1/5 scales using the main track. Some of the jumps are being turned into table top ramps also the track is being covered in Astro turf making it better suited for large scale.

    Some good on board laps.
