Default Taller Baja Battery Box Lid

I shoulda done this years ago, but better late than never.

This is a machined Delrin battery box lid that's taller than the factory lid. It's totally sealed up. I wanted it to have no openings, to keep out dirt and water. You can easily drill holes in the sides or top to add lights, power switch, or whatever you want.

Delrin costs as much as aluminum, so these are kinda pricey to machine. Retail would be around $50

If there is enough interest, in 4-6 months I can have them injection molded, which would make them a lot cheaper, around $20, but I'd have to be able to sell at least 1000 of them to pay for the cost of the injection mold.

Before you go ahead and make loads, did you make it a tad shorter so the top can be easy removed. Or does it not effect that problem now been taller.

IE more clearance from box to the tank, good idea for people using stock battery packs but gone lipo 4200 so now have loads of room.

I'd buy one, never enough room in the standard battery box.

    Wouldn't want one.

Just woundered why if he was concerned about numbers / sales why he didn't cater for the whole range seeing as they all run the same box rather than just the kraken / team chase users which can't be a massive market in comparison

Bit of careful organising and all good .

I was thinking just yesterday about how to make a bit of extra room in the stock battery box, with a normal battery, RX, charge wire, switch, Superbee/buzzer/led and a KRC Light controller in there + wires and a 4 way splitter for the front lights its VERY cramped. However I'd agree with others above, this either really needs to have a 'U' shaped recess in it to accommodate the stock rollcage or have some sort of rollcage mod available for this to appeal to the vast majority, myself included.

It looks great, and does address a need with the Bajas, I see you've recently done a similar things for the Losi which is cool, but if you're going to get this mass produced its going to be best for you if it worked with a stock Baja.

    Just my

I'd actually love to see a water-tight radio box, something that incorporates a seal like Traxxas came out with.

I have a simple solution to make it work with the 5b, 5t, 5SC. Just need a short riser that bridges this gap. Easy to make. Shouldn't affect the fitment of the 5b body much.

A simpler solution would be to design it to fit

Some of you guys are a joy to be around. LOL.

I'm not putting a depression into the top of the lid. Then we are almost back where we started with the factory lid. I want a simple, roomy battery box lid, so big batts like this can fit.
