Thread: Baja project V4

    Since I have decided to take a different route with my baja, the title didn't fit anymore so I have decided to create a new thread.
    The last configuration thread is here.

    What I started with

    New engine 9.9hp OBR Full Mod G340 Reed with High Performance Billet Transfert.

    The trusted G320RC stock it's replacing.



    Was expecting a 1107 carb but received a 990.





    New chassis to accommodate the new cage

    New inner chassis rails.



    New outer chassis rails



    Decided to use a steering servo (HS805mg) for throttle. More for braking power than acceleration.

    Received my Silverback Guerrilla rear 5t wheels so the 5b desperado can now go back to the hostile 5b tires.



    Also receive my Team Twisted yamadude linkage. Kind of surprised to see that the stock rod is sturdier and stronger.

    Should receive the VRC pipe and black magic steel gears today. Then I'll be able to start it.

    As it sits.





    No wing, can't decide.

    Package received!





    DDM red aluminum gas cap installed.



    Metal gears 19t (Vertigo) and 55t DDM black magic. I've never striped a gear but with the G340 Reed, I wanna play safe.

    I like it but with all that effort I think an EAC carrier would have complimented your project nicely

    Trust me I have been eye balling the EAC for awhile now. I run your clutch and pinion and just got a 19t pinion.

    I mounted the 19t pinion and 55t metal spur gear. It is tight! Is it supposed to be that tight?

    For some reason my VRC did not come with the spring. Anyone else ever received one without it?

    Alright, the 55t black magic doesn't mesh properly with the vertigo 19t. Too tight. On the other end the vertigo 17t meshes loosely with the 55t but still kind of ok. I can try 54t spur gear with the VP 19t but I'm not sure it will mesh better than if I get the VP 18t to go with the 55t spur gear. My baja is heavy too so I don't think I really want to go 54t. What do you think?

    i would have thought the vertigo pinion would mesh ok with the black magic spur mate,
    i have both setups on my cars, ie: 19/55 black magic pinion and spur, and 19/55 vertigo with black magic spur,
    i will swap my black magic to the vertigo later on and see if i have mesh probs ,
    will let you know what happens ,
    my black magic spur is modified though, its been lightened, but should still show up if it meshes badly ,
