    update again ,
it don't look much different but 99.9% of the paints now off the rail frame,
just a few minor bits left here and there that I will mark and blast off before primer,
next job is to weld the tag for the front top plate back on,
so I refitted the top plate to hold the tag in place, I will weld the underside , then remove the plate and weld the top, then dress it back wi a burr in the dremel
few pics below, and as always thanks for lookin ,

update again, I got a tad carried away though ,
stripped the rear end cos I have some BoneHead-RC carbon fibre parts coming from dean soon ,
so needed to come apart anyways,
thought I may as well give everything a thorough clean and regrease while I was at it,
noticed a notchiness in the diff as well, not sure if its owt major but will strip the diff and have a looksy ,
the blue donut gear case is staying on as well as the rails being done blue again,
but gonna change the big bores out from the polished finish to the black ones I got from laz last year ,
springs will be redone in the new blue as well, afew changes being made though ,
couple of pics below, and as always, thanks for lookin ,

yeh I reckon less polished parts and more black paul mate ,
still gonna have a few polished parts on there but might put a black rear bulkhead on but keep the shock tower/upright doodads polished,
black shocks look so much better against the blue springs though,

    another update ,
stripped the diff, found out the notchy bit was one of the small diff cup ball races had gone rough and had a piece busted off the ballrace case itself,
so cleaned the diff parts, replaced the ball races, alos fitted 4 bearings and did away with the inner oilite bushes,
new seal, refilled with 60k diff oil and its as smooth as it ever could be ,
also stripped and cleaned the rest of the gearbox and cleaned the case as well,
then re greased and put back together along with a nice fresh maxhex ,
a few more pics below, and as always , thanks for lookin ,

    small update ,
stripped the rest of the rear end down to clean and check,
GH rear hubs were a pain to get apart cos some of the bolts seized in, even though they had anti seize on em ,
    gave everything a good clean,
replaced two of the bearings, one each side and also replaced the two inner dogbone boots as well cos they were split,
reassembled the hubs and that's about it for today ,
oh, and also swapped from 2 degree toe in to one degree,
couple o pics below, and as always, thanks for lookin ,

Looking good, have you thought of having more than 1 colour on the cage..think of it as a full body and paint say the sides in blue, roof in white and the window frames in black or chrome..just a thought bud..

:gunsmile:IT'S BETTER TO BURN OUT THAN TOO FADE AWAY !!!! !

thanks ian , and yes mate I have had a few thoughts on the paint scheme , but cant make my mind up ,
its defo gonna be a certain shade of blue, still not ordered the paint yet though,
but have thought about fading the paint either darker bottom to lighter top half,
or lighter front to darker rear,
or blue to black, etc etc,
I did think about framing the windows like you said as well, but with it being a shorty rail the roofline/ window height is very tall, so not sure it would look right,
also when I was gonna do it green I was gonna try and do white into green front to rear, and fade the green, or light green to dark green, or Kawasaki style,
but its gonna be blue again now ,

I might see if the green I have will take to lexan on the hammer panels though, I have some fancy plastic primer so may do a colour change on that as well

    next update ,
stripped and rebuilt front hubs, arms etc, had one dodgy bearing only at that end ,
so all cleaned and also swapped the heim ends out for stock plastic ones, I might change em back yet but the rail has more suspension travel with the plastic ones on,
then masked the BoneHead-RC engine plate and front y plate up so I could mod em for the shorty,
then bolted the alloy ones on to em and lined em up, just to use as a pattern cos I know they fit right,
all that's needed is three bits chopping off and a few new mounting holes drilling, plus the y plate needs the front section above the servo arm extending a tad cos of the setup I have on there,
and two notches to clear the rail frame,
both plates need a few other minor mods , but test fitted em to make sure I got it right ,
some pics below, and as always, thanks for lookin ,

edit; I know the layshaft looks like its bent in the from above pic, but I assure you it aint, its the go-pro camera lense that makes things look bendy ,

    another update ,
well today was engine in out in out etc, the rail is a tad different with mounting points than a baja so takes a little while to get everything square,
this is why theres no paint on the rail yet , cos in out in out wi parts means scratches
I had the alloy plate I took out as a pattern, but some of the holes need to be done by hand and the old in out thing ,
so engine mounted to plate and one more on the underside countersunk,
then test fitted the BH carbon plate with the engine on, fits and lines up bob on ,
then plate out, engine off, plate back in and drill two holes at the rear for the rails rear section securing bolts, then bore those out to 7mm so the allen heads are recessed,
I don't do short cuts so has to be done right ,
looks like a surface scratch on underside of the engine late as well, but that will buff off ,
few pics below, and as always, thanks for lookin ,

only a small update today, didn't get much time in the workshop ,
so, needed a 2.8mm spacer so the vertigo 12mm hex bell would work with the vertigo laust carrier that JA5ON gave me,,
just needed to back space the bell a tad,
so took a 15mm inner diameter ballrace apart,
then heated the inner race to soften it a bit,
then turned down to the right size 7mm down to 2.8mm in the lathe,
fitted to the bell , then fitted in the laust carrier and put pinion on,
bob on fit , happy chappy ,
some pics below, and as always, thanks for lookin ,

    short update ,
just been building up the rear end a bit,
fitting the BoneHead-RC parts I got from dean ,
the whole rear end bolts in in one chunk on the rail, except the upper shock mount part and shock tops, so can be built up ready to go back in ,
I reckons its lookin bob on now wi some carbon on there ,
a few pics below, and as always, thanks for lookin ,

postimage is still a tad iffy, but will try an update ,
soooo, fitted the alloy shock tower doodads, then fitted into the rail frame to make sure all baja parts to rail frame holes still lined up,
holes easily go out of line when changing parts I've found, even when you change for better parts things still seem to run out of line here and there and need minor corrections ,
everything lined up though , so all is well ,
then swapped out the upper rear pins for some shorter ti ones that are threaded at the ends,
(that way I can get them to sit flush and just screw a bolt in to pull em out,
then drilled the rear bulkhead and fitted two flange head screws to retain the pins,
refitted upper rear arms and hubs, drive shafts etc, all greased up and tightened down,
then stripped the black I-rc big bores for a clean and refill with my choice of oil weight,
to be honest there clean, and the oil in em was clean, but I don't know what weight laz put in em , so easiest just to change it out,
gave the shock shafts a quick repolish cos they soon get dull spots, shiny smooth equals smoother shocks ,
a few pics below (maybe), and as always, thanks for lookin ,

    edit: paints ordered as well

yeh I guessed you might not remember what was in em paul mate,
I've never touched em till yesterday, they been stored in spares dept ever since I got em of you ,
and yeh there bob on , no wear at all , just the usual dull spots on the shafts that they all get, bit of solvol autosol and there shiny again ,
and thanks mate, I know its gonna get scraped and scratched and that, but nice n shiny when the paint goes on and a bit of a different look wi the BoneHead-RC carbon as well
