Thread: Shredded both my hostile mxs

Default Shredded both my hostile mxs

Took the baja out yesterday and was the first time I'd ran the hostile mxs on dry grass.
Loved the grip and struggled to keep the front wheels down!
But ripped both of them on the inside edge where they meet the beadwork
Anyone else had any issues with them?

I had it happen with a brand new set of mini MXs on the first day out with them.....same thing they tore the lugs off from the beads.

Are yours Mini MX or MX . I have had a set of MX for years and still going strong. The minis I had have very thin tyre walls, I was totally put off minis ever again.

They are hard compound mx. First outing on dry ground.
Can't remember where I got them so will have to check, think it was mmr.
I have ordered a set of vipers but want another set of mx for harder ground but kind of not sure after this fail.

I did the same as Si too. My Mx's flew off the back rims within about 5 minutes and blew the inner foams to bits. Funny at the time. The rubber is too soft and it just pulls out of the beadlocks. Not much you can do really, no matter what beadlocks you run. I wrapped some tape round my inner foams now so at least if the tires pull out again I don't shred the foams. Don't know if that of any help.

You are right about the tires though. They do give good grip if the ground is right. I ran them at bashfest but only did 2 laps with them before the tires had pulled out from the beadlocks.

The MX nightmares are a lot tougher than the minis

Never tried the minis but the entire inside wall has torn off the rest off the tyre on both. Bit disappointed really as they hadn't had that much use.
Now in 2 minds to get another pair as I have vipers now but they are a lot softer than I expected so thinking on firmer ground in the summer another pair of hard mxs would be better.
