Question G320 doesn't fit my Modified RC chassis...

Has anyone else had issues with the G320 motor not fitting the pre-drilled holes on the Modified RC chassis plates?
    http://www.davesmotors.com/Modified-...b-5T-5SC-.html

On the Fan cover mountings the rear hole is OK but the front one is way off (screw thread in the fan cover is further forward) I notice that the stock chassis plates have a slotted hole here??
The other side, on the clutch housing mount (TR Housing) the hole is off by just enough that I cant get the screw in, this one is also countersunk so is difficult to adjust.

Anyone seen this before or got any solutions ?

Got mine from freepawn I think as was 50 compared to 80 elsewhere.

I got a G320 and it fits perfectly on the chassis

I've got that ModdifiedRC chassis. Both my 320 and my 30.5 fit fine. No problems

Wondering if its something to do with your engine set up. I have had problems when using a couple of DDM fan covers before now. But the one I got now is fine.

Is it the same if you have nothing fastening the engine in and the gear plate disconnected? Just to prove its not something pushing the engine out of line. Like the transmission or the front and/or rear upper engine mounts, out of line front/rear chassis. The two lower engine mounting holes in my modified rc chassis are ever so slightly elongated to allow a very slight amount of movement in the engine to help it line up with the transmission. Since you have two holes, one on one side of the car and the other on the other side wondering if its just the engine being pushing out of line by something.

Zenoah G320 fan cases are 1.5mm wider than CY ones... The threaded holes that is.
I can't remember if it's all Zenoah cases or not, but all mine have always been a tight fit, so I'm guessing yes.
Common problem when fitting Zenoahs into 5ives too, with the mesh inserts, one needs flipping around for it to fit and sometimes removing all together.
I've had a G320 on a ModifiedRC rear chassis plate, so they can fit, but it's tight... Put the bolt in of the one that doesn't fit first and keep it very loose, then put the other in and tighten both up... It should snug down fine, well, mine did.

I have ran a 32 on a modified rc 5b plate with built in skid plate (not the one you have) fitted perfect, is your fan case on correct?

    I didn't know that.

But still, to go with what Laz just said, I got 3 zehoah fan cases, one was from the 320 and a DDM fan case and they all fit the moddifiedrc chassis. I didn't know they were ever so slightly different though.

Can't you just stick another fan cover on the car? All my fan covers fit my 320 and my 30.5. I use the same fan cover on the 320 as I do on the 30.5, both on the zehoah crankcases and the my TR/OBR crankcases. They all seem to work

I'd attached the Fan Cover upper rear plate screw 1st to hold the engine in place while I flipped the car over to fit the 3 chassis bolts. I will take that out again tonight and try to fit the bolts through the chassis 1st.
by the sounds of it the 1.5mm Zenoah / CY difference is what's causing an issue here, if I can elongate the hole slightly i'll do that. Hopefully then the Clutch Housing one will fall into line and I won't have to worry about messing up the countersink.

unless the plate is drilled/holed wrong I would not elongate any holes, as mentioned don't snug any bolts until all are entered in threads, I have had a similar prob but not on a 32, I had to loosen off fan case bolts to get the 2 under chassis bolt to enter then snug it all up

It shouldn't need elongating bud, but yeah the 1.5mm difference is the problem.
No idea why Zenoah do it, all the others are the same, but theirs is slightly different.
Another option of course is buy a CY fan cover which some people opt to do.

Will the CY one from my existing 26cc engine fit?

This is what I found from mine, measured (to the best of my ability) with Verniers:

I now have the CY cover fitted to the G320, and have swapped the pull starts over, plus it means I get to keep my Fruitbat decal
    Cheers for the advise guys.

I have a zen 320 fitted to a modified RC chassis, but the two pull start end holes are factory slotted to accommodate either engine using a conical spacer/ washer......it's an original type modified RC plate not the new type ribbed one, so have they changed the hole layout on the new plate then ?

This is my chassis plate, (also the older design) the engine is now in, with my existing CY fan cover, the screw holes are not slotted at all and the gear plate for the pinion / spur was a very tight fit as there was no play to speak of once bolted in, The only other thing ive changed is that on my old 26cc I had the standard cast Clutch housing, whereas now I have the shiny TR G320 one.

It's not why Zen does it, it's why the others don't do it. They followed Zens lead with the engine but made some changes.
Let's also not forget, before the US companies took on the largescale market, years before the Europeans all used Zens..

Well that's odd Ryan because I bought this genuine modified RC plate a few years back ...brand new in the packet and as you can clearly see the holes are slotted across and along the plate to accommodate different mounts. How strange they should change it.
