    Default spents dragon hammer build

some of you already know i now own the hammer of johns (tone50 ),
so gonna start a build thread ,
its going to be a fairly long build and updates will be irregular at first, but will pick up as i go along,
so heres a pic of what i'm starting with,

    free upload image

and heres a pic of what the general plan is
borrowed this out of the baja , but will get another when funds allow

not gonna be easy cos space is a little tight,
at first i was gonna build a new extended chassis, but john and me were lookin at it the other day and john came up with an idea i dismissed at first,
then as we looked it became apparent that it might be a better option,
so possibly keep the stock chassis and work around it,
    fingers crossed ,
as always with my builds, thanks for lookin

so, stripped the panels off and had a look at the cage, its way over engineered and strong as bull ,
cage will be on off on off etc etc all the time so no panels on makes things easier,

then comes the first oh bugger moment ,
the only two screws in the whole car that aint been slackened off are the front chassis brace ones,
well they rounded out, so torx bit tapped in and both of those snapped off,
so these two screws are well tight

a few people have asked what the articulations like with the solid axle,
well heres a pic, not bad really

    thats all for now ,
    as always, thanks for lookin

Think a few people have struggled with bigger motors due to getting a pipe to fit..hope you find a solution as these are nice platforms..

Ask borki if he can help with the pipes. he already has an obr twin so just take some measurements like me and mark did I'm sure he could work his magic..

i was gonna leave this for a day or so , but decided too tackle the stuck screws this afternoon,
took an hour and three quarters to get the broken torx bits out, then 15 mins to drill em out ,
a few minor scratches on underside of the chassis and a long un where the pick i was using slipped , but other than that no damage

    free upload

and all that to get the front chassis brace out,
brace was un damaged, but needs changing for a custom one anyway,
and no threadlock or owt causing the issue,
it was the countersink steel against alloy that locked together , i seem to have this issues a fair bit for some reason ,

    screenshot on pc

as always, thatnks for lookin ,

yeh they were the only two screws on the whole car that were stuck paul,
all 10.9 grade screws throughout as well ,
will do the same as i do on the baja and rail when it goes together proper again, anti seize on all the countersinks

not sure why the pics at top of thread have disappeared , theres just a small square there now that takes you to the post image sight,
anyway, been trying to work out the gearing today,
that involved masking tape and then seeing what the final drive was,
ie: turns of the pinion to a full turn of the wheels,
hammer worked out at 10 to 1,
stock baja is 8.25 to 1,
so the hammer is way under geared if I have my sums right ,
only problem is fid don't do any gear upgrades for the hammer yet, but I think I've found a way round it with various losi parts and a couple of vertigo parts as well,
I need to look again tomorrow to triple check I worked this out right before buying gearsets ,
couple of pics below just to give an idea of what i'm trying to work out,
and as always, thanks for lookin

so one of the hammer and one of the rail wi masking tape stuck to em to work out final drives,

re posted the pics at the top of this thread,
not sure if its just me that couldn't see em or not, but since started using this new laptop a week ago it seems that every single pic I posted using post image can only be viewed by clicking on the little square doodad that's there instead of the full pic,
owt that's posted now is fine, most odd
