    Default Tamiya Avante

Thought i'd post this up as some of you maybe interested...

picked up the new re-release of the Tamiya Avante, back in '88 i really wanted one but could never afford to buy it at the time. Have seen a few unmade original kits on ebay over the years but never bought one, so when i saw Tamiya re-releaseing it i thought i'd have one.

It's just a shelf queen i'm afraid, but i'm well pleased with it, just need to paint and sticker the shell and i'm done.

Bought myself a Hotshot a few years ago, like yourself couldn't afford one back in the 80's.

That looks a few steps up from the hotshot though, alloy shocks ?

If it's a shelfer, try and get the body painted in box art, will look mint

    *edit*

**** me just seen the price of it !

well i started painting the shell, after about 10 seconds spraying i realised i'd made a crazy and catastrophic mistake!

Tip: dont spray shells when your in a rush

Got to say I'm tempted to get one as a shelf queen. I wanted one even though it wasn't the best buggy at the time just coz it looked so good!
Is it pointless to buy a car I'll never run? Probably but if I can spare the pennies I'd really be tempted... Unless the next re-release is the 959

Is it pointless to buy a car you'll never run??? Nope! ,I have a few unbuilt kits that will never even be put together.
I built a full alloy FG MT and ran it for 31 secs, why, just so I could build it.After that it was stripped and sold.
Back to the question, how much do you value a vintage model?

thats what was great about the re-release avante... had seen original avantes and egresses on ebay over the years sell to collectors for way more than i wanted to pay. The re-release was way cheaper!

in a way i'm a bit sad i scrapped my Avantequish that i built in the early 90s, was a hybrid avante and vanquish (mostly Vanquish)... avante chassis, egress titanium shocks etc etc. I sold the best parts last year on ebay to part pay for the Baja!
