finally I is back to getting sommat done in the workshop ,
the rail is on hold at moment till theres a bit of warmer weather for painting,
    so back to the hammer,
as I said a few posts above it weighs 22.19kg with an empty tank,
the hammer is way over engineered and a few parts are way beefier than they need to be, in my opinion anyways ,
so a bit off here and a bit off there and I should be able to get the weight down a fair bit,
i'm aiming for around the 20kg mark, but if I can get it less than that I will be well happy,
also gonna make a few carbon fibre parts to reduce weight as well,
so, its sort of half stripped again, may as well be done over winter as well then its not on down time next year,
anyway, couple of pics below, and as always, thanks for lookin ,

    a quick update ,
if anyone ever wondered how many parts there are on a dragon hammer, then below is a pic ,
stripped it and will see what can be removed and where metal wise on either the mill or lathe,
but without making it weak ,
i'm going to try and mostly remove areas that are hidden as well so it still looks as stock as possible,
also a pic of the three main plates that I will redo in carbon fibre,
pics below, and as always, thanks for lookin ,

I'd kill for a workshop like that!
I'd kill several times if it came with a twin

soooo a bit of an update,
made a start on project make it lighter ,
as can be seen in the first pic, my mills a tad small to get the chassis on, but its just a case of make do where I can,
dean did offer to cnc the pockets out further for me, but that means shipping it back to him, and wanted to crack on wi it,
cant match deans cnc finish with my little manual mill but will just do the best I can ,
the three biggest pockets I done are hidden under the battery box anyways,
so far its 154g off the chassis,
also drilled out my rear home made extenders, that saves another 20g each, I will do the fronts as well so that's another 80 for all four,
possibly 100g in total for the extenders if I take a tad more off em,
lots of parts can be machined to take a little off and the goal is to lose 2kg in total,
some of you will say why bother, but lighter means faster if done right ,

a few pics below, and as always, thanks for lookin ,

so just a bit of an update, I've been slowly whittling weight off here and there on the hammer,
its a slow process cos need to make sure I don't make anything too week ,
took some off the exhaust bracket and am now skinnying up the big engine mount,
yesterday I tackled the rear drive shafts and knocked a fair amount off em ,
still plenty of meat on em though so plenty good strong as bull still ,
numbnut here forgot to take a pic of em before I reassembled the axle halves,
the axles are all shimmed up and fastened up so heres a pic of those instead ,
as always, thanks for lookin ,

    update time ,
made a start on the carbon tank plate,
done this one first cos its the worst one to do ,
all holes drilled and countersunk where needed,
some are countersunk from the top and some from underside, hence it being a pain in the arse ,
then masked up again and marked out ready to do the outer profile,
packed in for the day cos its cold and windy, and I is getting old ,
couple of pics below, and as always, thanks for lookin ,

Nice work Paul those hammer parts take up some decent space on the carbon sheet, of you did my mind once the carbon ones are complete I might want to lend those stock hammer parts wink wink just to add to the BH range.

Deffo do right calling it a day though getting old an all

couple of hours more done today ,
so I drilled a few random holes around the tank plate so I can rough cut easier with the jigsaw with a metal blade in it,
then will mill / belt sand and dremel the shape till its bob on,
then marked out the battery box plate and drilled all the holes, again some countersunk on the top and some from underneath,
its easy to get confused with which hole needs what doing to it so I took my time again ,
then removed the plastic film from the top side, remasked then marked the outer profile and cutouts ready for cutting ,
the last large plate that will need doing is much much simpler , so doing the hardest ones first ,
a few pics below, and as always, thanks for lookin ,

    just a quick update ,
finished the carbon tank plate , well it may need a tickle here and there when test fitting ,
just needs two 1mm spacers making for that plate now , that's easy enough though,
the battery box plate is rough cut and I will try and get that finished tomorrow,
a quick pic below , and as always, thanks for lookin ,

quick update, no pics though ,
carbon battery box plate is proving to be a bit of a pain in the bangle ,
loads of stuff fastens to it and all needs to be spot on,
so its takin a little time and plenty of patience to get right,
also have the flu again , same as half the rest of the country by the sounds of it, but just working in the workshop as and when I feel not so bad at moment,
as always , thanks for lookin, (reading)

finally got the battery box plate finished off ,
took some time but needed to be bob on,
all manual mill and hand dremel work an that,
lots of little details to get right and also everything needs to fit right to it,
there are a couple of minor mistakes on it , but nowt that's gonna cause any issues,
also it looks bent in the pics but that's just the go pro lense again ,
    a few pics below,
    topside,
    underside,
and started to put a few small parts back onto the plate,
as always, thanks for lookin ,

bit more of an update ,
reassembled some of the battery box, fitted servo's and front exhaust mount an that,
then reasslembled the tank and some of the plastics onto the new lightweight carbon tank plate,
still need to make two 1mm spacers to space the mesh plate upwards 1mm,
then reassembled the diffs and diff cases/ rear axle,
everything on ems as light as its gonna get for now so freed up some bench space by putting em back together ,
front and rear diff filled with 30k wt fluid,
and centre diffs now filled with the 1.000,000 cst fluid, centre diffs almost locked but has a smidge of diff action still in there ,
should stop the front wheels spinning up too easy now, I hope ,
a few pics below, and as always , thanks for lookin ,
