    update time again ,
still waiting on a pinion coming ,
so a few things needed modding, well I thought they needed modding anyways ,
so started modding the exhaust manifold adapters, and cocked one up, I was never 100% happy how I did em the first time so decided to make a new pair,
new ones are around 3mm thinner than the original ones as well which should be better all round I reckons,
so cut a pair of blanks from 6mm 6082 t6 alloy,
drilled a hole in the centre then made em roughly round on the belt sander,
then nut and bolt through the hole and turned em till they were the right size , and round,
then marked the holes, mounting holes to engine and manifold to adapter holes,
you will see in the pics that the left adapter manifold mounting holes are offset to the other adapter cos the manifolds reversed on the left side,
then tapped two of the holes on each one and counterbored the others,
next step is to mill out the centre so they matches the exhaust ports on the twin,
that's the bit I wasn't 100% happy with on the first set,
will do that tomorrow now though,
also opened up and reshaped the air intakes that the filters fasten to, i'm convinced the engine wasn't getting enough air last time out,
and first time using the modded fid plastic intakes with my alloy doodad on the top, so they've been opened up around 50% more, should flow more air now,
last pic shows stock doodad on the top and the modded ones underneath ,
modded ones are now mostly shaped to match the fid plastic intakes as much as possible,
    few pics below,
and as always, thanks for lookin ,

    quick update ,
turned a recess to take the end of the exhaust in the adapters today,
then milled the slot in the back side of em as well,
just needs a tickle with the dremel to shape and blend em in in the holes now and there done ,
planned on getting more done today , but other stuff got in the way ,
    a few pics below,
and as always, thanks for lookin ,

    quick update ,
I was dremelling the exhaust adapters and happened to glance at the twin , noticed what looked like a crack in the flywheel side cylinder just below the exhaust port,
had a bit of a panic on ,
so pulled that cylinder off and cleaned it up, turns out its just a mark from when I cleaned it that went the full width of the cylinder,
it really did look like a crack though, spent hours checking it and checking it again,
in the end I ran some engineers blue along it and left it for a while, then cleaned off the blue and checked if any was in the mark,
nope, it was all good ,
checked inside and outside and under the magnifier and all sorts ,
should have taken a pic of the offending mark at the time, but was crapping my sen in case it was a crack
some may say it was a waste of time, but peace of mind for me now next time its run ,

    couple of pics below,
and as always, thanks for lookin ,

    update again ,
I was gonna try and modify the old fan bracket for the new bigger cooling fan, but there wernt enough meat on it,
so made a new top section of the bracket today, still needs a finish trim but its fairly close to how I want it now,,
and the fan itself needs the case modding wi the dremel,
a few pics below, and as always,
    thanks for lookin ,

    another small update ,
did a bit more at the fan bracket today,
then mocked up the engine wi the carbs and filters on etc,
it fits, just , it just nudges the filters a tad , but things have always been tight around the engine,
so, success, bigger fan should move more air around the engine ,
and these 64mm fans are more readily available than the 55mm ones I was using,
couple of pics below, and as always, thanks for lookin ,

bit of a better update today ,
now, I got the 28t blackbone pinion yesterday, so cracked on with that ,
had a proper measure up and worked out the best way was to mod the bell,
the blackbone losi 5ive bells shaft was too long, so turned it down by 7mm, then re machined the flats on it to get everything bob on again,
took several attempts to get the bell lined up on the mill,
but got it done in the end, only had one go so had to be perfect,
anyways, the pinion spins true, and I have the offset just right as well, well its right in my eyes anyways ,
also had the carrier and bell etc fitted to the engine and all is spaced well, no pic of that bit though ,
but fitted the carrier to the chassis and checked alignment and alls brilliant, I is a happy chappy,
also just reversed the gear mesh inserts and there close to being right but not close enough, I will sort that and either source some new ones with a closer offset or make some myself,
    a few pics below,
and as always , thanks for lookin ,

    next update ,
so, I fitted the centre diff clamps and bolted down the diff so its in its correct position,
just used short screws cos I didn't wanna refit everything just yet,
then modded the mesh inserts, took 1mm off one end, then drilled and pressed a 1mm spacer in the other end so the mesh is now sorted ,
next I shortened the plastic diff cover cos the pinion caught on the end of it, big pinion means mods ,
then refitted the bell and carrier to the engine, this time remembering to Loctite the pinion bolt ,
then refitted the modded engine mount from the pull start end and then offered up the engine,
the engine mount still needs a couple of mods doing to it, so engine out again,
will mod the mount tomorrow and then get the engine refitted and lined up, spacers are needed for the mount , so needed the gear mesh bob on so I can make those,
    a few pics below,
and as always, thanks for lookin ,

    update again ,
sorted the pull start end engne mount out today, fitted the engine and sorted all the spacers for the mount and bolted everything down ,
then offered up the rear top plate/ mesh plate which I thought I could modify enough to move the one screw that bolts to the bell carrier along 3mm ,
that's the new distance the hole needed to move cos of the 28t pinion,
but oh no not as simple as that, theres not quite enough meat on the plate to do that ,
so, out with the engine again, and off with the bell carrier again ,
I don't do bodges, unless there mid bash to keep running, so has to be done right,
and I will make the part that's in my hand in the pic but with the mount hole 3mm further across,
and now the other engine mounts locked down, I left that bolted to the engine and just removed with the mount attached, so next time it goes in the mesh is already set ,
a few pics below, and as always, thanks for lookin ,

    update again ,
machined a new spacer thingy for the mesh plate doodad today,
made the hole to top plate 3mm closer to make the mesh right
then refitted the bell carrier to the engine, put the engine in for the last time (hopefully ),
and then built the diff holder up right again,
mesh is very close, needs a tad more though, but left myself a little wiggle room for very small adjustments,
so a little jiggery pokery adjustment and it will be spot bob on ,
    few pics below,
and as always, thanks for lookin ,

    quick update ,
finally got the mesh sorted to how I wanted it , no tight spots etc, its taken a while but needed to be to my ocd standards ,
so engine defo in for the last time now, all bolted up and ready for carbs to go back on,
also cut some new gaskets for the air boxes and reassembled those, all sealed up and ready to go back on when the sealers gone off,
I should point out that I've been correcting every small issue that was picked up during the initial runs,
that's just in case anyone thinks I've already built it once so why's it in bits again ,
its all been trial and error till I got it sussed out,
a few pics below, and as always, thanks for lookin ,
