    Default Zenoah g290/walbro 990

I know these posts have been done before, but I'm having some trouble. I've checked for spark yes and it's a brand new one, changed fuel lines and fuel is getting to the carb, but the car doesn't sound like it's choking it self to start. Never had this problem before thought it might have been a shot battery not letting it start due to not changing changed that no luck. Any thoughts?

Have you carried out any mods or a rebuild?

Check all studs are tight in the carb, head and exhaust fixings.
Make sure no gaskets are blown and hanging out
Check the coil gap is correct or the coil studs have not worked loose.....they can still give a spark but a weak one.
If you have a kill switch fitted ...disconnect it. Also check the coil wires have not been chafed through by the flywheel .
Make sure the exhaust is clear and not plugged with mud.
Have you over oiled the air filter ?...see if it will start without it on.
Try pull starting it with a little throttle open slightly.

These are the things I always check first before tearing it to bits

Tried the above and still no luck, one thing though I had a 990 on the car before and I snapped the hose when replacing the fuel lines. Replaced the carb like for like done the needle settings the same but the car has not been the same and just isn't starting at all now, even with a drop of petrol down the hole??

I would suggest taking the carb off and checking the pulse hole aint blocked mate, or that the gasket between the carb and the insulator block is on the right way up,
some gaskets have to be on the right way cos they only have one hole for the pulse, others will fit either way cos they have two holes one at the top and one at the bottom,
also go back to stock needle settings at first, just because a needle setting works on one carb don't always mean it will work on a new carb, so go back to stock and work from there mate ,
    990 stock settings are low= 1 turn out , high= 1 1/2 turns out I believe ,

just re read this thread mate, and noticed you said you changed the fuel lines,
you didn't accidentally swap the lines over did you ?
most of us have done that at some point ,
line with clunk on the end goes to bottom of carb and return at the top ,

Still correct as the car was starting up after a drop of fuel down the hole, but now just not at all. But yeah I've done that at some point lol
