    Default Carb cleaning

So, you're engine died while running or you go to start it after a week and nothing, why?

    First do the basic checks,

    spark? yes,

is the plug wet? no! so you now know the engine isn't getting any fuel.

Is the carb bulb filling up ok? yes, so the carb is circulating fuel but not giving any to the engine

You now know where the problem is, a blocked carb.

Only way to solve this is a carb strip and clean or new carb

First remove the top, bottom and needles but leave the butterfly and shaft in place.

But how can fine particles enter the carb with an air filter?

There are a few places dirt can get in, there is a vent hole on top

This clearly shows fine particles inside the top

There are dust particles inside too, these are enough to block a carb and stop an engine running!

Get a container with some fuel in and a tooth brush, clean all the parts thoroughly and blow out the main block with a piece of fuel tube in you're gob (but don't spit) do this 3 or 4 times.

Now you have a clean carb in bits.

Place the bottom gasket and filter as shown

Carefully replace this on the carb body and screw tight

Next replace the top diaphragm as shown

    Re fit the bulb

Replace the needles and set to:
    Low speed 1.1/4 turns out
    High Speed 1.1/2 turns out

Now place some fuel tube to the inlet and out let and test the suction

Here is what came out this carb

One carb cleaned and ready for use again.
