I used some liquid gel sink unblocker, dont remember the brand but it is basically sodium hydroxide (which is caustic soda) in a gel form, it took the anodising off in about 90 secs, with no risk of splashing

    Default The before and after.

A few pics of b4 and after. Started at 4.50pm and finished the tower at 8.30pm.
A few ideas to add, i boought my costic soda from the asda and a pack of plastic food bags from Aldi which have a zipper on in order to seal it.
First put some parts in the plastic bag, load your pieces into it and partially close the bag leaving enough room to pour about a cup full of cold water in, quickly zip it up and i left mine in the sink, less than 2mins and all the purple had gone. Carefully open a small opening in the bag and do not breathe in the fumes put run the cold tap slowly into the bag and then wash it all down the sink.
As mentioned gloves , and copious amounts of water after removal from the bag and then wash in soapy water and lightly rub over with a scotch pad or similar.
The plastic bag when sealed with the items in and working will get hot, you can always run the cold tap over it if your not comfortable with it.

After all that it was into the office and starting with course wire wool and progressing through medium and then fine. Finally Autosol and the buffer.

I stripped my car down tonight ready to de anodise so I can powder coat in the colour I want. Is it ok though to de anodise the shock caps, shock adjuster nut and the the mounting section the part you put the bolt through.
