Why not do the full length of the beam and slot each end where the strengtheners are too?

Because there's no point in doing it, the tubes only need to hold the two ends of the cage together.

You wouldn't need to install 4 pins if it were accurately measured full length and slotted at each end tho?

I'll try it full length first - No harm in trying

OK, I'll try explain, "most" guys here don't have the equipment etc to make perfect fitting tubes with slots to exactley match the roll cage, this thread is to show a "simple" quick mod to get the front or back sections of the cage off without removing the rear suspension.

I hope that makes things clear for you

Oh yeah, i fully appreciate that entirely.

I have a pencil, hacksaw and a dremel, i played Operation a lot when i was a kid so i think i've got what it takes to try em full length. lol <--- that lil face cracks me up!

thats inner diameter, I got 12mm aliminium tubing from homebase and had to rub down the roll cage bars with sandpaper to reduce the diameter slightly as it was a dead fit in that tube. You should try and get 13mm tubing for a hassle free installation. But its well worth the effort.

The stuff I got from B&Q had an internal size of 9.9 - 10mm, outer size being approx 12mm.

Was a nice tight fit though.
